A new kid entered into our oncology ward for treatment. He was around 8 years. He had a superman toy in his hand. He doesn't know what his problem was but looked confused and worried because of his mother's cry.
Doctor came in. He said in a husky voice to the nurse that the kid has to be given chemotherapy. The nurse accepted and came near to the kid to start her treatment. The child started to show anger and threw the toy away, because of pain. He was not ready for the treatment.
Huh, creative visualization technique came to my mind. My inner voice forced me to help the child which such technique. Since I was the fresher, my emotion overtook the voice and said " Its not gonna work , you are not strong enough to deal with the child, you are weak, you may cry and put the situation under worse".
I came out, closed my eyes and thought of the situation once again. I may not be strong like others emotionally but my vigor to help the child was much stronger. Went in. Sat next to the child silently. I said to others that I need to spend some time with the child. They gave me the space. I just held his hand. He refused to touch me. I held him once again.
I hardly wanted to take away his confusion. Asked him to close his eyes. I gave back his superman toy in his hand. " There are small small microbes inside your stomach, the medicine which goes inside you is like your superman. It fights inside, of course it pains but our ultimate goal is to kill the microbes." He opened his eyes.
I asked can we kill? He said yes
LESSON FOR US:
1. Accept and feel the pain
2. Confused mind can lead to confused decision and fear
3. Visualize the most difficult situation of yours and bombard it with positive thought.
4. Seek help to develop positivity
5. Its okay to get hurt with truth than getting comforted with a lie and sit with confusion.
